Meeting with the Chinese Consul, Song Xuefeng

The presentation of the new Consul of the People's Republic of China, Song Xuefeng, to the members of the Fondazione Italia Cina and the Italian Chamber of Commerce of China, was held in the splendid setting of the Tiepolo Hall of Palazzo Clerici.
The first to welcome the diplomat, who started his job in Milan for just over two months, was the president of the Fondazione Italia Cina, Cesare Romiti. "His journey has brought him to Italy, a small country but by great cultural traditions" said Romiti to Song Xuefeng. I have been in China for many years and have had the opportunity to meet all Chinese presidents from 2000 to today. During these meetings I learned that the basis of good relations between the two countries is cultural activity: China and Italy are two of the oldest civilizations in the world". President Romiti then explained to the new Consul the activities of the Foundation and its School of Continuing Education. "We want to increase cultural relations with you, but we also want to do business" Romiti concluded "to make our two countries move on the path of mutual development. In this sense, Milan is a front door and has a very important community that will soon have the opportunity to meet. "

Subsequently, the Chairman of the Italian Chambers of Commerce Pier Luigi Streparava intervened, pointing out how China's investments are ever increasing in our country. "The Chamber of Commerce - he said - has sought to involve these new realities and we hope that relations with the Consulate will continue as cordial as they have been so far."

Song Xuefeng Consul, on stage, wanted to thank the participants present at the event and the Foundation and the Chamber of Commerce for "the important work they do: their role is fundamental to friendship among our peoples". The Consul also recalled the recent visit by the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, to China and the concomitant Business Forum and the forthcoming visit by Premier Paolo Gentiloni as important opportunities to promote relations between our two countries, also in the perspective of projects like One Belt, One Road and Made in China 2025. Song Xuefeng then told that he had visited the Salone del Mobile, closed a few days ago, and perceived the close contact between our two countries. "The Chinese success of recent years is connected to Italy," he said, "and our Consulate is available to you for future collaborations. The future of Italy-China relations - he concluded - will be even brighter thanks to the effort of all of us. "
