Mondo Cinese, a double number to take stock of the New Silk Road

It is titled "Is All That Glitters Silk? _ Italy and Xi: Balance and Perspectives of the Silk Road", the new issue of our magazine Mondo Cinese (165-166). The creation of this volume was particularly troubled: the idea of dedicating a monograph to the study of the Chinese initiative had seemed, since 2017, an important opportunity for reflection on contemporary China and our relationship with this country in a political context and economic-commercial sector in rapid change.

The events, however, followed one another with unusual speed and the global geopolitical context has changed unpredictably. The news took over and it was decided to slow down the output of the volume by waiting for the elapsed time to set the necessary distance. This has also led to an overlap with another issue of the magazine in progress, dedicated to some aspects of the leadership of President Xi Jinping: hence the decision to combine the two volumes into one which, although primarily dedicated to relations between Italy and China along the new silk road also includes some contributions on the current Chinese political leadership.

This issue of Mondo Cinese can be purchased in hard copy by writing to Francesca Bonati (bonati@italychina.org).
