CHINA 2021 | Our XII Annual Report is out

A China that continues to focus on domestic consumption, where foreign investments are growing and which records a 55% leap in Made in Italy exports in the first quarter of 2021. This is the picture that emerges from the XII Annual Report “China 2021. Scenarios and perspectives for businesses”, published and presented today by the Italy-China Foundation. The guide - prepared by the Business Studies Center of the Italy China Foundation (CeSIF) - presents the political, economic and business access scenarios in China, with an in-depth analysis of the sectors of greatest interest for Italian companies and investment opportunities. for Chinese companies in Italy.

After a difficult 2020, the persistent health emergency still makes traveling and working in China extremely difficult today. This situation strengthens the drive towards internal consumption, sponsored also for strategic issues by the Beijing government, which continues to keep an eye on exchanges with the rest of the world, as envisaged by the Dual Circulation strategy. Considering the continuous growth of Chinese purchases at home and the contingent difficulty of moving people, it becomes imperative for Italian companies - especially SMEs - to reach Chinese consumers in their country and be able to distribute their products in China.

China is already, and will be even more so in the coming years, one of the great protagonists of the post-Covid-19 recovery - reads the preface signed by the President of the Italy China Foundation, Mario Boselli -. We are well aware that what happens there has immediate and profound effects on other countries as well and we are sure that the Chinese restart will soon be followed by a global restart. We need to be ready for what will happen in the short term, when those initiatives and events that will allow us to interact again with such a promising market will resume”.

The 2021 edition of the Annual Report consists of 296 pages, 188 graphs and 25 tables. The publication includes seven sections: the first five report a country risk analysis from a political, macroeconomic and business environment point of view. The sixth presents the main sectoral implications and opportunities for foreign companies in China, with particular reference to Italian ones. Specifically, 10 sectors are analyzed: food and beverages, healthcare, retail, luxury goods, environmental protection, chemicals, machinery, automotive, media and entertainment, furniture. The last chapter presents the themes of Chinese tourism and the incoming of students from China.
