Cinema, Puglia looks to China: agreement between AFC and Hengdian Group

With a view to fostering greater collaboration and interchange between our country and China, as part of the Bari Film Festival 2018, a Memorandum of Understanding between Apulia Film Commission and Hengdian Group was signed on 27 April. The document was signed at the Apulia Film Commission headquarters by the Chairman Maurizio Sciarra, by the Director Antonio Parente and by Airaldo Piva Ad of Hengdian Group Europe and Director of the Italy China Foundation.

The intent of the agreement includes collaborations in the field of cinema, tourism and training of technicians and professionals in the audiovisual sector between the Puglia region and the Hengdian group, and more generally with the Zhejiang province. The goal is to organize events and exchange projects that can foster opportunities for collaboration between Italy and China in the audiovisual sector, facilitating the partnership between professionals and institutions of the film industry in the two countries, and promoting , at the same time, a deeper mutual knowledge of Italian and Chinese cinema.

The Hengdian Group, a member of the Italy-China Foundation, is the owner of Hengdian World Studios, one of the world's largest film studios (visited by around 16 million Chinese tourists in 2017) and has set up an important film and film academy. television in China, the Hengdian College of Film and Television, which today numbers about four thousand students.

The important agreement between AFC and HG Europe has been promoted by the Italy China Foundation and is aimed at increasing the development of tourism with China, a strategic sector for our entire country: the agreement is the beginning of a collaboration, a bridge between the Italian and Chinese film industry, but it is also the result of a longer process of approaching the Apulia Film Commission to the Chinese cinematic world and studying the opportunities offered by the possibilities of collaboration in the sector, as well as the search for solid partnerships Chinese in the audiovisual industry.

The Memorandum was in fact signed following the participation of a Chinese delegation of Hengdian By Creations Film Media Ltd at the first edition of "China Insight", focus on the Chinese film industry organized by AFC, which was held in Bari as part of the Bif&st 2018
